Peak and off season. When to get the best deal

Visitors are drawn to Los Angeles and Southern California for its sunny weather, golden beaches and famous landmarks. From Disneyland to Hollywood and Beverley Hills, to Venice Beach, there’s no place on earth quite like LA. The best time for an LA holiday may very well depend on the type of activity you’re after.

The ocean front is best experienced during the summer when the beaches, boardwalks and promenades are bustling with activity. When looking for the best LA fares however, the off-peak season from October to April is generally the best time to travel.

Outside of the busy travel weekends over Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and Easter, airlines typically offer sale fares during these off-peak months to generate international traffic. Booking as far in advance as possible is another way to find the lowest fares.

Getting to and leaving the airport

Los Angeles International Airport is located along the coast, just south of Santa Monica and Venice Beach. The airport is located approximately 20 miles from Downtown LA and Beverley Hills and 25 miles from Hollywood. Disneyland in Anaheim is about 30 miles south of the airport.

The entrance to the airport is located at the end of West Century Blvd, with an exit from U.S. Interstate 405. Most rental car facilities and hotels are located on or just off of Century Blvd, very near the airport boundary.

Most airport hotels offer free shuttle service to and from LAX and taxis are readily available.

Visit the LAX Maps page for up-to-date information on terminal, parking and rental car office locations.

Los Angeles Airport Facilities & Services

From rental cars to shops and restaurants, LAX’s 9 terminals offer a wide range of facilities and services. The new Tom Bradley International Terminal offers a wide range of duty free shopping. Free Wi-Fi is offered in every terminal, with higher speed premium access available for a small charge.

Los Angeles as transit or stop-over destination

Few destinations are as legendary and as exciting as Los Angeles. Whether its strolling along the Hollywood Walk of Fame, touring the legendary TV and film locations, or dropping the top and driving the coast in a stylish convertible, LA makes for an unforgettable experience. Even if just flying through Los Angeles, there’s plenty you can see and do in a short 24-hour period.

Theme park enthusiasts are sure to get a thrill when visiting LA. Disneyland is 30 miles to the south and Universal Studios, located north of Hollywood, is just minutes away.

Just a short drive away from Universal is the famous Hollywood sign, Warner Brothers Studio Tour and Griffith Observatory. The observatory and park features space and science exhibits, a planetarium, parklands and gorgeous city views. It has also been a location spot for many movies, including Rebel Without a Cause and the Terminator.

What could be more LA than walking, biking or rollerblading along the boardwalks and pathways of Venice Beach and Santa Monica Beach? Go for a swim, relax in the sun, or gawk at the unique personalities passing by. Either way, it’s a most entertaining area.
