Airlines flying to Wellington

Getting to and from the airport

Wellington airport is well situated for travellers, only 8km from the city centre. There are several services proving transfers from the airport.-

  • Taxi. As Wellington city centre is only a 15-minute ride from the airport, taking a taxi is the fastest option. Expect to pay from $30-40NZD, depending on your destination.
  • Super Shuttle. This airport shuttle provides great discounts for those travelling with a large group. The shuttle will cost about $15NZD per person. Book online before arrival to ensure you get the best deal.
  • Car Rental. Seven major car rental companies are conveniently located in the arrivals hall of the airport. Book online in advance to guarantee a vehicle is waiting for you on arrival.
  • Rideshare. Uber, Zoomy, and Ola all service Wellington Airport. Trips into Wellington take about 15-20 minutes.

Getting to Wellington

Wellington is a small city, so one of the best ways to explore the city is on foot or by bike. The city centre is only about 2km in diameter, so it's possible to see most attractions on foot.

Wellington has an extensive public transport network, including buses, trains, and ferries. You can easily visit anywhere in the Wellington region using this affordable and reliable means of transport. Fares are subject to the distance travelled, for example, a 1-zone bus fare is about $4AUD.

Wellington Cable Car. For over 100 years passengers have been enjoying the spectacular view from New Zealand's only funicular railway. The five-minute journey will take you from the heart of Wellington to Kelburn lookout, with breathtaking views of Wellington Harbour and surrounds.

Cuba Street. Take a stroll along the bohemian Cuba Street, a 1km promenade extending from the beach.
