A true-blue fan of all genres, my love for music often takes me around the world to experience the best festivals the globe has to offer.

If you’re like me then your musical taste knows no bounds. A true-blue fan of all genres, my love for music often takes me around the world to experience the best festivals the globe has to offer. Universally, the United States holds its own in delivering epic cultural and musical experiences each and every year, and 2020 will be no exception. Each year these festivals up the anti and have, so far, been killing it when it comes to delivering the biggest and brightest names in the biz.

I’ve started mapping out my year-long musical pilgrimage through the deserts, valleys and cities of the Americas, and thought I’d share my findings. While most events are yet to start revealing their headliners, jump on the waiting lists now to avoid the barrage of interest that happens once the secrets are out!

1. Coachella

Indio, California 10-12 & 17-19 April, 2020

We must start with the biggest and the best-known.

Set to run over two huge weekends next April, the iconic Californian event brings the stylish and sun-tanned to the Indio desert every year. While the line-up is yet to be announced, you can always expect the big names to show up and crush it. Last year’s festival saw the likes of Childish Gambino, Ariana Grande, Tame Impala and Kid Cudi… just to name a few!

Usually, always a sell-out, be sure to start working on your itinerary now and book hotel and travel packages before they are long gone! Not as remote as it appears, you can grab cheap fares to Palm Springs airport from LAX. The ticket waiting list is now open for those eager beavers.

I’ve personally watched Beyoncé’s Coachella 2018 performance on Netflix, well… let’s just say it’s an embarrassing amount. Fingers crossed for a 2020 encore from the Queen herself!

2. Ultra Music Festival

Miami, Florida 20-22 March, 2020

There’s nothing else that gets the blood pumping harder than the renowned DJ’s that inhabit the stage at Ultra Music Festival. Locked in for mid- March 2020, electronic music lovers can unite over the fresh summer beats that will be on offer. The headliners are hush-hush for now, but if last year’s talent is anything to go by (David Guetta, Skrillex & Boys Noize for example), 2020 should pack some punch on the turnstiles. Cheap flights to Miami are available from most major cities, so go and start your Northern hemisphere holiday the right way.

3. Governors Ball Music Festival

Randall’s Island, New York 29-31 May, 2020

The Governors Ball Music Festival is currently sitting at the top of my festival “gotta go” list. Mainly, because I can’t wait to hear how it sounds when I tell my friends I’m attending the New York event.

The other powerful reason for attending is the array of musical might. The festival is for lovers of all music genres, showcasing the perfect blend of rock, hip-hop, electronic and folk performers. The variety of artists will mean there is no way your nearest and dearest won’t want to tag along too. Last year’s acts ranged from the ethereal Florence + the Machine to the rock genius of The Strokes and kept the party going with Major Lazer and Lil Wayne.

With the famed New York skyline as the backdrop, this festival is a real winner. Join the waiting list today.

4. New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival

New Orleans, Louisiana 23rd April + 3rd May, 2020

The sounds and soul of this event have been running since the 1970s and continues to deliver the best of Louisiana’s music and culture. The jazz and heritage festival has added an additional day to the 2020 itinerary, making it an 8-day long affair to remember. Become one of the lucky 500,000 fans who visit annually to immerse themselves in the vibrant music scene that shows no signs of stopping at the stroke of midnight. 2020 has big shoes to fill with previous headliners including Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Red Hot Chilli Peppers – just to name a few icons. New Orleans is an easy, peasy cheap flight to and from Los Angeles or New York.

5. Burning Man

Black Rock Desert, Nevada 30 August – 7 September, 2020

Let’s finish with a bang! Round off your year-long musical journey with an unforgettable (but potentially hazy) trip to Burning Man. Get yourself onto a cheap flight to the Nevada desert and experience one of the longest-running festivals in the world. Since 1986, Burning Man has undoubtedly grown into a universal bucket list “must do”. Showcasing a plethora of music, art and culture in the middle of absolute nowhere, you must check out what all the fuss is about.
